These pictures are from my visit to London. It was my second time there and much better than my rather jetlagged first.
Me at Paddington station
Jeff at Paddington station
Me outside of the McLauren dealer in London
The London Hard Rock Cafe, the first established
Since it was the first established it has a whole vault downstairs with more stuff
The two Americans who founded Hard Rock because they couldn't get a decent burger in London
Jeff Beck's guitar
A trumpet of Miles Davis'
some great Hendrix stuff, such as his famous guitar
Les Paul's Les Paul
Kurt Cobain's guitar
The marriage snow globe that was on top of Kurt and Courtney's wedding cake
Lennon's stuff including some lyrics and his jacket
Some items from the Clash
A Sex pistols guitar
The Hard Rock barbie
Westminster Abby - it wasn't 10am yet and you can see how packed it was already. Personally, I didn't think looking at dead people was all that great.
Big Ben is still impressive every time I see it
The London Eye - we didn't go on it Saturday because the lines were too long. Sunday was a nicer day too.
The tower bridge
The Tower of london
Traitor's gate, where many were brought into the tower never to leave
The Bloody tower - where the 2 princes were killed and Raleigh was kept for a long time
A yeoman guard, or beefeater in regular blue uniform. The red uniform is for special occasions.
The tower was constructed and added on to again and again. Here you can see the changes made and how the architechture changed as well.
One of the funny guards
Some small houses where nicer prisoners were kept
A carving made for Lady Gray's husband before he was executed for treason
The site of the scaffold - few prisoners were actually executed here, most were done in a more public area. The more sensitive executions were done here, like Anne Boleyn.
The tower where the Crown Jewels are kept. They were lovely to see, quite impressive.
The White tower - the first part of the tower, and build by William the conqueror
The top of the white tower had two of thease (North-South and East-West) to symbolize royalty
Where the Ravens sleep - the tower has Ravens that have their wings clipped because as long as the ravens remain within the tower walls, the tower will not fall.
The Millenium bridge is the thin one that is the highest, behind it is the blackfirars bridge
A better picture of the Blackfirars Bridge
A science pole given to London that shows scientific advancements chronologically
The Globe Theatre
The Tate Modern. The large black and pink things are some of McCarthy's art.
The Hungerford Bridge
This is my trip on the London eye. It was beautiful and I highly recommend it. We showed up at 9:45am on a Sunday and were off the 30 minute ride by 10:30am.
Buckingham Palace from the Eye
Jeff in the pod
Some of the famous phonebooths
Jeff in one of the phone booths
Trafalgar Square during Trafalgar Square Day
Some famous people watching the military show in the square
The only? Mexican restaurant in London
The British Library with the St. Pancreas station in the background. I liked the contrast in architecture.
Sitting on History
Me Sitting on History. I like the double play of the phrase.
I knew Harrods was supposed to be uppity, but I was not expecting this. The place is all lighted up like a Chirstmas tree in October, when it's closed, on a Sunday.
Some of the elaborate decorations inside Harrods may rival the Royal Pavillion.
